Understanding the Journey

I tend to use the terms spiritual journey and awakening journey interchangeably. Some people may disagree with this, that’s okay. Either way I want to share a little bit this week about what this journey we are on really is.

What is the journey?
The journey is the hard days, when nothing seems to be going right and we feel completely disconnected from source, but we meditate and find what stillness we can to settle into anyway.
The journey is the days when the sun seems to shine a little brighter and the world flows with ease, moving us along our path as if the universe were singing a song made solely for us to dance to.
The journey is the days that make us doubt everything we think we know and open us up to new levels of consciousness.
Everything we encounter is part of our journey. A lot of it may not make sense, we cannot see the forest because we are so deep among the trees, but in the vastness that is the universe the journey is our connection to spiritual enlightenment.
Many look at the journey as a means to achieving an end state, but this is not the case. The journey never ends. We continuously evolve and when we reach a new state of awakening or spiritual enlightenment that we had previously only dreamt of, we see that there is still further to go along our path.
What we often forget is that the journey is a celebration. If there is no ultimate destination, then we need to remember to celebrate now. This is what we miss, this is what holds us back. We focus so much on where we want to be that we miss where we are right now and in missing where we are right now, we lose the meaning and the teaching of spirituality.

We are divine souls experiencing human lifetimes. Yes, we are already divine souls. We did not come to earth to learn to be divine souls. We came to earth to learn to be human. We came to earth to experience human emotions. We came to experience love and joy, hard times and struggle. So, when we strive for spiritual awakening maybe we are missing the point, maybe what we need is to settle into this uncomfortable human experience we are having and through settling in perhaps we will fall through. Perhaps we will settle right into the spiritual awakening we have been fighting for.
With this, I invite you to relax. Know that in the very center of your being, where that beautiful eternal light shines within you, you are already there. The goal of the journey is the experience. The goal of the journey is now, this moment that you are in reading these words. Breathe deeply my dear, you are right where you are supposed to be, welcome.
